Tandem Paragliding Flights

The paraglider is the simplest, most lightweight form of aircraft known to man, so this makes taking you to soar with the birds quick and easy. A tandem paraglider enables us to share flights with others.
After a short brief, clip in and safety checks, your pilot will kite the tandem paraglider above your heads, then, with a few steps, you and your pilot will be gently lifted from the launch to begin your free flight experience. When conditions allow, you will enter the lift and climb skyward towards the clouds and discover why birds sing. For the more adventurous, and at your request, we can increase your heart rate by adding some G's to your flight for an unforgettable experience.
Your pilot will then glide you safely back to earth.

If you come as a couple or a group we can fly you all at the same time.

We also offer a whole day air adventure. This includes training on a solo glider at our training site. You'll get to know the equipment and learn the basic paragliding skills.
Afterwards we'll take you out on a tandem paraglider where you can take the controls and enjoy your gained knowledge while under the direct supervision of your NZHGPA licensed Tandem Pilot .

Sturdy footwear is highly recommended.

Tandem launch

Our Fares

A standard tandem flight is $180.
On suitable days we offer to upgrade your flight to a cross country flight. We're using (more) thermals to climb out high and fly along the ridges for more spectacular views. This extended flight is $255.
A whole day air adventure is $320.
Our fares include transport to and from the hill anywhere in the Nelson area and protective clothing (helmet, gloves and flight suit).
We recommend that you bring your own protective footwear, preferably hiking boots, for example, which provide ankle support.
If you are a couple and you both want to fly, we offer a "couple flight". We can also fly with two tandem paragliders at the same time and you both have a radio to communicate.

Barnicoat

Barnicoat is the gem in the crown of Nelson's free flying scene. It is located 600m above Stoke with stunning views overlooking Nelson bays to the world famous Abel Tasman National Park.
The launch, a gently sloping six hectare, grass-clad hill provides us with a safe and beautiful backdrop for paragliding.
Barnicoat is the prime spot for tandem paragliding in Nelson.

Takaka Hill

800m above the upper Takaka valley nestled amongst the amazing limestone rock formations is the Takaka Launch. With good conditions you will experience a fourteen km out and return cross country flight, landing at the base of the mountain. To round the experience off we'll take a 20 min. drive towards Takaka to stop for a swim and light refreshments at one of the beautiful swimming holes Takaka has to offer.
This trip is available for two to four people and is a day long mission, leaving Nelson at 10am returning approx. 6pm.
